The UC Santa Cruz Summer Session team was recognized this fall by both the North American Association of Summer Sessions and the Association of University Summer Sessions for leadership, innovation, and student-centered practice in summer education.
In October, Jennifer Gallacher was named president of the Association of University Summer Sessions, representing UC Santa Cruz at the national level. Gallacher previously served as the association’s secretary and president-elect.
In November, Ursula Nayeli Rendon was elected Western Region vice president of the North American Association of Summer Sessions and joined its Administrative Council. She also co-presented Student-Centered Summer Course Planning alongside colleagues from UC Merced, highlighting collaborative and equity-focused approaches to summer programming.
Lindsay Osborne contributed to the conference as both a presenter and an award recipient. She led the session High Expectations, High Support: Student Employee Development from A–Z, sharing a model for student employee training rooted in student development theory and student success, using the Summer Edge Peer Mentors program as a case study. Osborne also received the Best Pre-College Program with a Diversity Focus award for her leadership.
Together, these accomplishments highlight UC Santa Cruz and the Division of Undergraduate Education’s leadership in shaping summer education nationwide.
